VIDERÉ HELPS METROHEALTH SYSTEM EXPAND TO IP-BASED
VIDEOCONFERENCING
IP-based Network Connects MetroHealth with Partners
April 17, 2007
Quincy, MA. – Videré Conferencing
a leading provider of video, audio and AV integration solutions, announced
today that it has assisted The MetroHealth System, a leading provider
of health services in Cleveland and northern Ohio, with the design and
implementation of an IP-based videoconferencing system.
Videré designed and implemented a conference room for MetroHealth’s
newly renovated Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, integrating videoconferencing,
audio conferencing and collaboration from a single source, securely through
a protected link. In addition, Videré worked with MetroHealth’s
network team to test the solution and then launch it for general use across
the MetroHealth videoconferencing network. Videré optimized every
aspect of the project, from best practices development, to product selection,
installation, training, maintenance and support.
The move to IP-based conferencing allows MetroHealth to realize significant
savings over an earlier approach using specialized ISDN lines which involved
dedicated wiring, monthly telephone company charges, as well as long distance
charges. The conversion enables MetroHealth to take advantage of the trend
toward internet based videoconferencing and expand the access of its medical
professionals to organizations across the globe.
“This conferencing and collaboration technology Videré introduced
to MetroHealth provides a cost effective approach to programs for resident
physician education and community outreach,” said Bob Ross group
manager at MetroHealth System. “We selected Videré as our
videoconferencing system because of their experience and expertise, and
we are already realizing the benefits of their technology insight and
their understanding of the needs of organizations like MetroHealth.”
“Videré’s goal was to provide the MetroHealth IT staff
with the latest technology and engineering while at the same time addressing
the needs of doctors and administrators who want to leverage this technology,”
said Kent Ramsay, general manager of Videré’s Midwest region.
“This is another example of Videré’s success in enabling
organizations like The MetroHealth System do their jobs better through
the power of today’s conferencing solutions.”
Videré is now working with MetroHealth System on future plans
that include mobile surgery videoconferencing, adding videoconferencing
to conference rooms, desktop applications, and evaluating multipoint bridging
alternatives.
